ForteSoft Systems Limited opened for business officially in July 2006 in GRA Ikeja. With a parent company based in the United Kingdom, ForteSoft opened with a vision for the development of the ICT industry in Nigeria.

WEB/MOBILE APPLICATION DEVELOPER


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Mobile/Web Developer’s role is to design, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The software developer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports as required.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and development of mission critical mobile and web applications

Deliver across the entire app life cycle –concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores

Build prototypes at tech scoping stage of projects

Liaise with product development team to plan new features

Work with other developers and stakeholders to create and maintain a robust framework to support the mobile and web apps

Work with the front-end designers to build the interface with focus on usability features

Create compelling mobile device and/or browser specific user interfaces and experiences

Optimize performance for the mobile and web apps


Technical Skills:

Proven development experience in desktop and mobile web development.

Excellent knowledge in information architecture, human computer interaction and mobile usability design principles

Excellent programming skills in frontend technologies and frameworks like HTML, JavaScript, CSS3, JQuery, PhoneGap/Cordova and frontend MVC frameworks

Expertise in full stack JavaScript frameworks include Angular, Vue etc.

Multiple years of server-side programming experience in C# and .Net

Experience in database technologies like MSSQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB etc.

Experience in native and hybrid Android and iOS development frameworks (e.g. Ionic 2, Xamarin framework etc.)

Familiarity with designing, creating and consuming RESTful and SOAP web services

Familiarity with version control systems e.g. GIT, SVN

Familiarity with build systems (e.g. Gradle, Maven), Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, Artifactory, Nexus)

Hands on experience with cloud technologies (including Azure, Oracle Cloud, IBM Bluemix, AWS etc.)

Ability to switch among multiple projects, multiple languages, and multiple IDEs in short periods of time

Exposure to Java is a plus


ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION:

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in any of the Physical Sciences with a minimum of

Second Class Lower Division (2.2)

Master’s degree would be an added advantage

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in software development

Ensure systems security by carrying out regular file system and database backups, logging of all activities on platforms and regulating access to systems, ensuring confidentiality of information.

SCOPE OF WORK

This scope of work (SOW) sets forth the services to be provided by the IT Advisor (Enterprise Application Integration Solution Architect) to SAII Associates Ltd/Gte, an associate company of Chemonics International Inc. in the implementation of the USAID Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) in Nigeria.


BACKGROUND


The purpose of the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management single award IDIQ contract is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities to prevent suffering, save lives, and create a brighter future for families around the world.

The IDIQ has four task orders that directly support the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), and USAID’s family planning and reproductive health program. GHSC-PSM provides health commodity procurement services and systems strengthening technical assistance that address all elements of a comprehensive supply chain. All four task orders are implemented in Nigeria.

The EAI Solutions Architect will assist the IT Manager is the assessment of business requirements; collection, identification of technical specifications; and the subsequent development of viable technology and software solutions.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Review, interpret and respond to detailed business requirements specifications (BRS) to ensure alignment between the program’s expectations and current or future ICT capability

Provide input to the strategic direction of technology investments of the program to assist in the deployment of the enterprise architecture in managing and streamlining business process.

Within the agreed enterprise architecture, define and design technology solutions to assist the program in meeting business objectives

Develop, test and implement technology solutions and report on delivery commitments to ensure solutions are implemented as expected and to set timeframes

Assist the IT Manager in providing technical advice and guidance on the development of technology strategies and plans in alignment with the overall objective of the program

Participate as an active member of the information technology team, providing level 1-3 support for simple to complex task involving maintenance, troubleshooting and simplifying technical solutions to end-users.

Provide a secondary point of contact for program led IT solutions on strategy and architecture topics when the IT Manager is unavailable to ensure efficient decision making processes can occur and reduce any possible delays.

Collaborate effectively to ensure team goals are achieved by concerted efforts in knowledge sharing and problem solving

Provide level 2/3 support as may be required from time to time.

Actively contribute to creating a culture of IT end-users service excellence.

Other tasks as may be assigned by the Information Technology Manager.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in either Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, BEng. Computer Engineering or other related Sciences.

A professional certification such as MCSD, MTA, AWS, Oracle APEX, Red Hat, CSTE, CSBA or CSQA is required. If unavailable at the time of selection, the hired candidate must undertake and pass at least a software architecture or related certification within one year.

At least 3 years of relevant and demonstrated work experience in a software development and integration environment is required (on diverse platforms is an added advantage).

Required experience with developing application on Microsoft Visual Studio and familiarity with resilient cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint is mandatory

Demonstrated ability to produce requirement artefacts: Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, data flow diagrams, UML modelling techniques, interface designs, test plans and test cases is required.

A background in software development with ability to code at some level and knowledge of APIs and SDKs is required

Knowledge of highly available, highly scalable cloud based infrastructures (AWS or alike) is desirable

Fluency in English is required.

Studying for 1Z0-051: Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I


1Z0-051 is a required element of both the Database Administrator and Database Developer certification tracks. As such, this exam is one of the more common Oracle exams taken. Beyond the certification requirement, knowledge of SQL is extremely useful in the IT industry. The SQL Fundamentals exam is one of the easier tests that you will experience in becoming certified in Oracle. That said, you can still fail if you take it without being fully prepared. This article is intended to give you some insight into the test to assist in your study efforts.


All of the topics that will be covered in the 1Z0-051 exam are listed on the Oracle Education website. Oracle SQL contains numerous capabilities that are not listed there, but they will not show up on the test. The topic lists from Oracle Education are always complete. The SQL Fundamentals exam has forty-one topics in eleven subject areas. The test itself will have seventy multiple-choice or multiple-answer questions and you’ll have two hours to complete it. The passing score is sixty percent. For the multiple-answer questions, there is no partial credit. Not answering a question counts against your score as much as answering one incorrectly, so you don’t want to leave any question unanswered — even if that means simply picking a letter at random.


As you would expect, the majority of questions in 1Z0-051 will have a SQL statement involved. To do well on the test you must have a good grasp of SQL syntax rules. Sometimes the question will contain a statement and you will have to choose among answers that indicate what it does. Other questions will describe a desired result and the available answers will consist of different SQL statements. You will have to choose the SQL that best fits the request. When the SQL statements are in the answers, generally one or more of them will contain a syntax error that would prevent the SQL from running. If you look over all of the answers, you can generally rule one or more out for this reason. The SQL in the fundamentals exam tends to be relatively short and reasonably straightforward. You will need to recognize some commonly utilized SQL functions and understand the DDL syntax to create a handful of database object types. The vast majority of the questions involve SQL that database developers or administrators are likely to use reasonably often.


The exam contains a fairly high number of exhibits that provide information about the question being asked. They are primarily diagrams that provide background on the tables being referenced. The diagrams in 1Z0-051 are not particularly complicated, but viewing them eats into your test time. A fair number of people run out of time on Oracle certification tests before answering all of the questions, so you must use yours wisely. Using the exhibit is not always required to answer the question. While the test indicates that you should view the diagram and then answer the question, I would suggest the reverse. This can save time on occasions where the exhibit can be skipped. On questions where you do need to view it, you will know what to look for.


1Z0-051 is an entry-level SQL test as the name suggests. You do need a reasonable grounding in SQL, but if you have that, then you likely will pass the test. Make sure that you view all of the topics on the Oracle Education website. Ensure that you are well familiar with all of them before scheduling the exam. Good luck on the test.
